Assistive Technology - Virtual Demonstrations

The Covid-19 pandemic has made it unsafe to provide face-to-face demonstrations or examinatioms of the assistive technology hardware and software in our AT resource center.  To this end, we are able to provide virtual demonstrations of most items and to most interested patrons.

What are virtual demonstrations?

Virtual demonstrations are a safe way to introduce participants to the features of different types of AT devices using a video conferencing computer program.

How does it work?

The DC Assistive Technology Program uses the Zoom video conferencing program to provide virtual demonstrations and meetings.  Participants are not required to create a Zoom account but the following is required:

  • Computer with a working camera
  • Internet access
  • Active email account.  A link will be emailed with an invitation to the demo
  • Ability to follow online instructions to enter the Zoom meeting
  • Headphones/earbuds; separate microphone (optional)
