District of Columbia Assistive Resource Center
Acknowledging the inadequate consumer access to assistive technology devices in the District of Columbia, ULS/ATP in collaboration with the District of Columbia Rehabilitation Services Administration (DC/RSA), has established the District of Columbia Assistive Technology Resource Center (DCATRC). Working with local and national assistive technology vendors, private for-profit entities and nonprofit organizations, the DCATRC displays a broad range of low tech and high tech items including communication aids, environmental control systems, sensory aids, aids for daily living, and technology for use in the classroom. This free center has examples of assistive technology which can accommodate the vocational, educational and independent living needs of individuals with disabilities. ULS/ATP staff help visitors investigate and compare items, discuss their applications and learn about assistive technology vendors and funding sources as well as equipment maintenance and warranty options. Interested individuals may also borrow devices for short term use.
The DCATRC is located at DC/RSA headquarters, 810 First Street, NE, Ninth Floor, Washington, DC 20002. For further information or to make an appointment for a free guided tour, please contact:
